Firstly, I want to apologise. Apologise for not updating the blog for a few weeks (three, I think?).
Life seems to be rather hectic at the moment, especially my full-time job. It’s awesome that it’s busy & I love my job but some things have had to take a back seat for a bit: Updating the blog has been one of those. I also had a sneaky weekend away to Lake Tekapo (it’s a small township on the shores of Lake Tekapo in New Zealand’s South Island) with my wife. It was wonderful.
So, what’s happening in my gaming world?
I watch my first Nintendo Direct last week since I got my Switch and came away impressed that Bethesda’s Doom and Wolfenstein The New Colossus are coming to Nintendo’s portable console. Doom on the Switch!! Unbelievable. I’m also keen to see how Rocket League plays on the Switch, too. I tell ‘ya, the Switch is starting to be the console of the year for me.
In terms of blog content, I’ve got a Destiny 2 review planned (actually, my son is going to write it for me as he’s completed the campaign) soon & I’m making my way through Yakuza Kiwami, which I bought from NZ Gameshop a couple of weeks ago. Kiwami is a remake of the PlayStation 2 game Yakuza, which I played on that console a few years ago.
I’d best describe it as an third-person, action RPG set in Tokyo. The player controls Yakuza Kazuma Kiryu and the game is a mix of exploration and combat where players can swap between one of four fighting styles.
I’m playing the game in Japanese with sub titles, which is the way that a Yakuza game should be played. It’s a series that I believe should be played this way. It makes it more authentic, more true to its roots.
Apart from that, I’m not doing much other gaming: I’m contemplating picking up the remaster of Rebellion’s Rogue Trooper, which is out soon and also contemplating upgrading my PC before year’s end as I’d be quite keen to experience games like Wolfenstein The New Colossus on PC.
So, how is your gaming going?
I decided to go back and play diablo 2 (with the expansion) after finishing the third game. Still one of the funnest games I’ve ever played. It’s definitely still holding up well. Apparently there are some rumours that Blizzard are making a remaster of it after the reception the the Starcraft remake.
Also yeah I agree that Nintendo are on the rise again after the fiasco of the Wii U. If the switch gets any cheaper I would be very tempted to buy one. The games on offer look amazing!
